Tahlequah PD: No suspected foul play at this time after body found

Tahlequah Assistant Police Chief Dexter Scott confirmed that a body was discovered inside a vacant house Tuesday, Aug. 27.

Officers were patrolling the area of Choctaw Street and Lee Avenue when a man flagged them down.

"He's the homeowner of a residence nearby and said the house had been vacant for awhile. He showed up to start the remodeling process and he found a deceased body," Scott said.

Officers entered the residence and Scott said it appeared the individual had been dead for several days.

"We believe we know the identity of the deceased but at this time that hasn't been confirmed. The body has been transported to the Medical Examiner's Office for positive identification," he said.

Scott said they don't suspect foul play at this time but they are still investigating.
