Tahlequah PD: Monday evening homicide under investigation

Tahlequah Assistant Police Chief Dexter Scott confirmed that a man was killed Monday evening and a suspect was taken into custody.

Officers were dispatched to a residence on West Fox Street just before 9:30 p.m. and the nature of the call was a report of a deceased body.

"Officers arrived along with the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service. They found two people inside the residence, one was deceased and the other was taken into custody," Scott said.

The victim has been identified as 64-year-old Robin Whisenhunt and the suspect's name has not been released as of Tuesday afternoon.

"It's still under investigation; what happened and how the two subjects are connected and the suspect has not been charged. He's in custody pending the investigation," Scott said.
