Standoff with authorities ends in one arrest
Multiple law enforcement agencies were called to a residence on Killabrew Road Thursday evening after a wanted man barricaded himself inside.
Cherokee County Sheriff Jason Chennault said deputies and the Drug Enforcement Administration were serving a felony warrant for narcotics on the individual when he barricaded himself inside the residence with a woman and dogs.
The house was surrounded by law enforcement officials before a portion of Killabrew Road was blocked off. An ambulance was called to be on standby.
"[They] were talked out after an hour and a half [and] the male was arrested," Chennault said.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Hulbert Police Department, Grand River Dam Authority Police, District 27 Drug Task Force, the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service Tactical Team assisted in the standoff.
The name of the arrestee would have to be released by the DEA, according to Chennault.
