A man was arrested after he was accused of causing a disturbance inside the Cherokee County Courthouse.
On Aug. 20, Cherokee County Sheriff's Deputy Kevin McFarland responded to reports of a disturbance at the Cherokee County Court Clerk's office. According to the deputy, Joshua Alan Hennen was attempting to film inside the office even after he was advised not to do so by an order posted by a judge. Hennen left his camera in the hallway and he was told he could enter the office to conduct business as long as he wasn't filming. Hennen began yelling while inside the office and deputies moved in to arrest him. Hennen resisted and struggled with deputies before he complied. Deputy Dave Butts, who was bleeding, injured his wrist and elbow during the struggle.
On Aug. 24, Deputy Justin Richardson was patrolling the area of Nalley Road and Ross Street when he observed an ATV with no lighting equipment. He followed the vehicle as it ran a stop sign before turning on to East Downing Street and then on to Teehee Drive. Richardson conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the operator, Matthew Tray Cordell. The deputy noticed an axe and a rifle mounted on the ATV. Dispatch advised that Cordell had two warrants and he was arrested. Richardson searched the man and found a rubber container that had methamphetamine in it. Cordell was transported to jail and booked on several charges.
Deputy Richardson was dispatched to State Highway 10 Aug. 26 due to an intoxicated individual who was reportedly causing a disturbance. A man accused Heather Reeves of causing a disturbance all weekend. He explained that the woman was consuming alcohol and trying to fight people. Reeves was arrested and booked for public intoxication.
On Aug. 25, Deputy Kevin Cohen responded to reports of an intoxicated pedestrian in Park Hill. The deputy arrived to find Candace Goddin, who claimed she needed to go to jail because she was intoxicated. Cohen tried explaining to the woman that she wasn't breaking the law. Goddin allegedly asked, "What do I need to do to go to jail, run into traffic or start throwing things at cars going by?" Goddin was arrested after the field sobriety test and booked for public drunkenness.
