Sheriff's Reports 4-9-24: Man arrested for kidnapping, assault after woman seen injured in photos

Deputies were contacted after images of an injured woman caught the attention of another woman.

On April 5, Cherokee County Sheriff's Deputy Jimmie Robertson was dispatched to East Thompson Drive to conducted a welfare check on a woman. Robertson was informed that photos purportedly showed the woman with injuries and burn marks to her face. Deputies arrived and announced themselves, but no one answered the door. Deputy Dylan Carder said he heard someone inside the residence threaten to kill the other person. Robertson made entry through an open window and made contact with the victim. Howard Hurst Green stepped out into the hallway with his hands in front of him. He was told to turn around and put his hands behind his back, which he complied and he was taken into custody. The woman had injuries to her face, shoulder, and chest. She said teenagers nearby heard her screaming and tried to help her, but she told them to leave so they wouldn't get hurt. Green was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center and booked for kidnapping, obstructing an officer, threatening to perform acts of violence, aggravated domestic assault and battery, and warrants.

Deputy Jacob Phelps pulled into the Cherokee Casino parking lot April 4 and was flagged down by security personnel. The security officer said Michael Howard was on the property and he'd been previously banned from the casino. The officer also advised this was the fifth time Howard has been caught on the property and they wanted him arrested. Howard was transported to jail and booked for trespassing.

On April 1, Sgt. Tanner Hendley was called to Park Hill after a woman accused Misty Stanley of assaulting her. Hendley said Stanley could be seen striking the woman in the face on video footage and she was arrested.
