Sheriff's Reports 3-3-25: Suspected armed man accused of threatening to shoot two women

A man was arrested after two women accused him of threatening to shoot them before he allegedly pointed a firearm at them.

On Feb. 27, Cherokee County Sheriff's Deputy Robert Stephens was dispatched to Stick Ross Circle due to reports of a domestic incident. Dispatch advised that the suspect, Andre Sanders, busted holes in a wall before he took off on foot with a firearm. Stephens arrived to find two women who were pointing toward a field and said Sanders had a rifle. One of the women said they were drinking alcohol and Sanders became upset over an argument. She accused Sanders of kicking holes in a wall, grabbed her jaw, and shoved her. The other woman said she confronted Sanders and he shoved her as well. The women said Sanders threatened to shoot them and pointed the firearm at them. Stephens could hear other deputies yelling for someone to show their hands. Deputy Kevin Cohen had Sanders in custody. The man allegedly said he threw the firearm somewhere in the field. Deputies were unable to locate the weapon. Sanders was transported to jail and booked for pointing a deadly weapon at another person, threaten to perform act of violence, domestic abuse, assault and battery, resisting arrest, obstruction, destroying evidence, and public intoxication.

Sgt. Jesse Mitchell was called to a property on U.S. Highway 62 Feb. 27 in regard to someone who was trespassing and cutting down trees. The property owner said that the suspect, Mason Daniels, admitted to cutting down the trees. According to the man, the trees are worth approximately $5,000 a piece and he's lost over $50,000 in trees over the last several days. Daniels claimed a friend said they knew the property owner and had permission to load the trees. Daniels was arrested and booked for vandalism/destruction of private property.

On Feb. 16, Lt. Tanner Hendley responded to Briggs Flat Road and State Highway 51 for reports of a road rage incident that resulted in a vehicle crash. The victim said a Dodge truck almost struck his vehicle on East Downing Street and he followed the driver in order to get the tag number. Both vehicles pulled onto Cobbs Corner when the driver of the truck suddenly stopped, began to reverse, and struck the other driver's Mustang. The suspect, Thomas Kyle Collins, began to drive away and the victim started following him. Video footage of the incident purportedly showed Collins brake, put the vehicle in reverse, and strike the Mustang a second time. The victim gave Hendley the tag number to the red Dodge truck but the deputy said that information came back to a black truck that was registered to someone other than Collins. Hendley went to that man's residence and was informed that Collins lived there and allgedly told him he was shot at and that's why he struck the other vehicle. The man called dispatch after Collins arrived at the residence and Hendley made contact with him. Hendley said Collins parked his truck at a friend's house and said he took the tag off his red truck, and put it back on the black truck once he got home. Collins was arrested and booked for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and leaving the scene of a vehicle crash.
