Sheriff's Reports 12-30-24: Man caught on camera allegedly stealing security camera


A man was arrested after he was caught on camera allegedly stealing a security camera.


On Dec. 21, Cherokee County Sheriff's Deputy Jimmie Robertson was notified that a woman had a security camera stolen and posted still photos of the two suspects on Facebook. The victim said she was told one of the two suspects was Jeremy Lee Rowe, who resided in Tahlequah. Dispatchers advised that Rowe had a warrant out of Cherokee Nation for second-degree burglary, possession of a stolen vehicle grand larceny, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and possession of a deadly weapon after former felony conviction. Robertson drove to the area of a residence when he spotted Rowe and asked for additonal deputies to respond. Deputies responded and Rowe began walking toward the residence after he allegedly spotted them on the property. Rowe was attempting to enter the residence when Robertson said he was under arrest. The deputy said several large dogs began to run toward the deputies, but stopped after Robertson yelled at them. Deputies entered the residence and a woman advised Rowe ran toward a back bedroom. A woman, who had been identified as one of the suspects on Facebook, told deputies Rowe exited the residence through a back window, but the deputy who was positioned at the back of the house said Rowe didn't come out of the window. Dputies found Rowe inside the residence and he was taken into custody. The woman allegedly claimed she thought Rowe exited the residence through the window. Rowe spoke with Robertson and denied taking the secuity camera. Rowe was transported to jail and booked for obstruction, possessing a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest, and his warrant.


On Dec. 21, Deputy Jonah Billy was dispatched to reports of someone who was trespassing on South 573 Road. A man accused Joshua Hix of throwing rocks at his truck, and said Hix jumped a fence and ran into a wooded area. Billy found Hix lying down near a fence and arrested him for a warrant. Hix admitted to throwing rocks at the vehicle and that he kicked in a neighbor's door. Hix was booked for malicious injury to property and trespassing.


On Dec. 20, Cherokee County Sheriff's Deputy Nick Chute was behind a vehicle in the area of North Cedar Avenue and State Highway 82 when he observed the vehicle cross the fog line while turning. The vehicle used the shoulder to turn onto Wheeler Street and Chute decided to conduct a taffic stop. The passenger wasn't wearing a seat belt and refused to give deputies his last name, but said his first name was Jeremy. The passenger was identified as Jeremy Wayne Stroup. Stroup was detained while deputies gathered the occupants' information. Chute's K-9 Deputy, Tygo, alerted on the vehicle and the backseat passenger, Bethany Neet, was asked to step out. A spoon with residue was found in the backseat and a bag of syringes was found in a backpack that Stroup claimed belonged to him. Stroup was arrested and booked for no seat belt, obstruction, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and a warrant. Neet was booked for public intoxication.


Deputy Jeremy Woodstock was patrolling the area of North Lost City Road and West 701 Road Dec. 22 when he observed a vehicle with an obstructed view of the license plate. Woodstock conducted a traffic stop and met with the driver, Robi Bell, who advised she didn't have her driver's license or proof of insurance. Dispatchers advised Bell had a warrant and the vehicle's registration expired in September 2022. The vehicle's license plate's 2024 sticker checked back to a Ford, not the Honda that Woodstock pulled over. Woodstock searched the vehicle and located bag containing what appeared to be marijuana and two smoking devices. Bell was arrested and booked for possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, operating a motor vehicle without a proper license plate, driving under suspended or revoked license, and no security verification.
