Sheriff's Reports 10-18-24: Woman finds stranger in her bedroom
A man was arrested after a woman said she awoke to find an unknown man in her bedroom.
On Oct. 7, Cherokee County Sheriff's Deputy Jesse Mitchell was called to South 512 Road to investigate a report of a burglary. The caller stated they returned to their apartment to find an unknown man inside the residence. A woman in the apartment said she awoke to the man standing in her bedroom. She said he refused to leave but did so after her brother arrived and called 911. Deputy Billy Jackson advised that the suspected man was located at a nearby apartment. Darren Spencer admitted to being in the apartment but claimed he entered the wrong unit. Mitchell said there was a strong odor of alcohol and marijuana coming from Spencer. Spencer was arrested and booked for first-degree burglary.
Deputy Jimmie Robertson responded to Fort Gibson Oct. 5 for a violation of a protective order. A woman said Millard Edwards on standing on her porch and attempted to call and text her phone. She said Edwards was in his vehicle, which was down the street from her residence. Edwards said he was at the residence to get some things. He was transported to jail and booked for violating a protective order and a warrant.
On Oct. 7, Deputy Justin Richardson was dispatched to South 584 Road due to reports of a burglary that was in progress. The homeowner said he awoke because his dogs were barking and someone was breaking the glass to his front door and windows. The man yelled for the individual to stop and they left the property. Deputies began looking for the individual and found Shaylyn Holmes walking on a nearby roadway. Holmes was detained and a bloody knife, a smoking device, and a purse were found. A credit card in Holmes' name was located in the purse. Holmes admitted to breaking the windows and was booked for malicious injury to property and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Deputy Kevin Cohen responded to South 551 Road Oct. 6 due to a physical domestic. Bethany Underwood was holding a wooden object and put it down when told to do so by the deputy. A woman accused Underwood of grabbing and twisting her wrist before taking her phone. Underwood was transported to jail and booked for domestic assault and battery and interfering with a 911 call.
On Oct. 1, Deputy Robert Stephens was traveling eastbound on State Highway 51 and Welling Road when he observed a truck with a deflective headlight. Stephens conducted a traffic stop and met with the driver, Steven Dwayne Cobb. Cobb advised he didn't have a driver's license and claimed he purchased the vehicle that day from a private seller. The man said he made the paper tag to the truck. Dispatch advised Cobb only had an ID card, the current tag to the truck expired in 2021, and there was no insurance. Cobb was arrested and transported to jail for booking.
These are arrests, not convictions.
