Police Reports 2-4-25: Officer taken to hospital after possible fentanyl exposure

An officer was taken to the hospital after he was possibly exposed to fentanyl while he was logging in evidence.


On Jan. 25, Tahlequah Police Lt. Matt Frits responded to the police department after an officer came into contact with the deadly drug. Officer Bruce Gower was treated by EMS and transported to the hospital for further treatment. Frits said Gower self-administered Narcan and appeared to be alert prior to him arriving at the police department.


Dasan Duane Sands was arrested Jan. 25 after he was allegedly found asleep in someone's bedroom. According to the report, the caller stated they didn't know the man and left the residence with a child to call police.


On Jan. 19, Jose Vidal Trejo was arrested after officers were called to X-Press Stop on North Grand Avenue for reports of a disturbance. The caller said Trejo was outside of the store and yelling at people.


Officer Zach Adams was called to Walmart two separate times Jan. 19 for reports of shoplifting. Employees said they observed two people not pay for $5 worth of merchandise. A citizen complaint form was filled out and both people were given a court date. Employees said they observed someone who failed to pay for $30 worth of merchandise. The suspect was given a court date and arrested for a warrant.


On Jan. 20, Officer Steffon Herd was dispatched to a cardiac arrest call on Jamestown Street. He was advised that the individual was not breathing.


Officer Reed Felts took a theft report Jan. 24 and spoke with the victim, who said the crime occurred Jan. 17. The man said someone stole his tractor and flatbed trailer, and provided the officer with the make, model, and serial number to the trailer.


On Jan. 24, a woman filed a fraud report after she discovered money missing from her checking and savings accounts.


Officer Brad Baker responded to reports of a possible hit and run crash on Southridge Road. It was undetermined if it was an actual hit and run incident as there was a slight crack in the driver's side mirror.


Lt. Frits was called to downtown Tahlequah Jan. 21 to investigate a report of a domestic incident. Frits said no criminal matter was believed to have occurred and a report was filed. Frits was also called to a residence on Hillcrest Avenue wherein two people were allegedly fighting in the front yard. Frits said one of the individuals left before he arrived and the other was uncooperative.


Officer Richard Berry took information from a woman who said she observed a man being arrested at Norris Park Jan. 22, and wanted to the reward money for calling in a dog complaint that led to the arrest.


Officer Herd was dispatched to the police department Jan. 25 for a vandalism report. The victim said the vandalism occurred at the property he's renting.


On Jan. 23, a man reported that his mother received a threatening email.


On Jan. 19, a woman told officers her boyfriend was trying to take her child and would not put the child down.


Officer Caleb Murray was dispatched to Clayton Drive Jan. 21 for a potential sex offense.


Lt. Frits was dispatched to University Park Nursing Home Jan. 19 for an attended death.


These are arrests, not convictions.
