Peggs woman sentenced for voluntary manslaughter
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that a Peggs woman was sentenced to prison for voluntary manslaughter in Indian Country.
Wanda Kay Friday, 53, was sentenced to three years in prison for shooting and killing an individual during an argument.
Charges against Friday arose after a probe by the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
On Nov. 25, 2022, Friday and the victim got into an argument and Friday shot the victim with a 9mm handgun. Friday pleaded guilty to one count of voluntary manslaughter in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma Dec. 15, 2023
Honorable Judge Ronald A. White presided over the hearing and Friday will report to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility to serve a non-paroleable sentence. Assistant United States Attorney Joshua Satter prosecuted the case.
