Park Hill man sentenced to 40 years for murder
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that a Park Hill man was sentenced to federal prison for second-degree murder in Indian Country.
Xavier Sean Wilson, 23, was sentenced after he plead guilty to one count of second-degree murder.
The charges against Wilson arose after a probe by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, and the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service.
On April 30, 2022, deputies with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to reports of a homicide in the area of Horseshoe Bend. Wilson assaulted and killed the victim with a knife before he fled the residence. He was located in the area around 10 a.m. the next morning.
"The penalty imposed by the court today reflects the gravity of the crime," said FBI Oklahoma City Special Agent in Charge Doug Goodwater. "Thanks to the efforts of the FBI and our law enforcement partners, the defendant will now be held accountable for his actions."
Honorable Judge John F. Heil III presided over the hearing and Wilson was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending transportation to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility to serve a non-paroleable sentence. Assistant United States Attorney Edith A. Singer prosecuted the case.
