OHP: Six-year-old killed in single-vehicle crash

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said a single-vehicle crash that left one child dead and four others injured is under investigation.


According to the report, a 28-year-old woman was driving a 2003 Chevy Tahoe on State Highway 51, three miles west of Stilwell Thursday afternoon. She was ejected during the crash and was airlifted to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. The woman was admitted in critical condition with head, trunk internal, trunk external, arm and leg injures as of Thursday evening.


A 12-year-old girl was also ejected from the vehicle. She was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa and admitted in stable condition with shoulder injuries. A 2-year-old girl was transported to the hospital and admitted in good condition with a head injury. A 7-year-old boy was admitted in good condition with head and arm injuries. He was also ejected from the vehicle, according to the OHP.


The 6-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene by Adair County EMS. The driver and three of the occupants were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. The 2-year-old was in a child restraint.
