Lady Tigers continue dominance over former Metro Lakes opponent

The last conference loss for the Lady Tigers was against the Claremore Zebras almost four years ago on Valentines night in 2020. That streak was not broken as the Lady Tigers improve to 15-1 on the 2023-2024 season with a workmanlike performance for the victory of 72-21.

The Lady Zebras controlled the opening tip but not much went their way from that point on. The Lady Tigers went on runs of 6-0 and 4-0, 4-0 to end the quarter, up 14-3. Claremore rebounded and played with more confidence in the second quarter, only allowing small runs of 4-0 and 5-0 to go down at the half, with a score of 29-12.

In the first matchup between these two teams this year, Tahlequah was able to have a 37-point quarter. In the third quarter of this game, they almost matched that with a 31-point third quarter, taking the lead and going into the fourth quarter with 60-17.

The Lady Tigers were able to rest their starters for most of the fourth quarter with the second team still outscoring the Lady Zebras 12-4, for a final of 72-21.

Tahlequah was led in scoring by Kori Rainwater with 22 and seven offensive rebounds, Madi Mathews had 18 and four three pointers while Jadyn Buttery had 13 with 8 assists and five steals. Talyn Dick had seven points, Jersey Retzloff, Carsyn Gilber, and Riley Dotson had three, Alayna Stopp and Lakyn Adams had two.
