Jailer charged for sexual acts against local, federal inmate

A Pittsburg County jailer was charged for having sexual contact against an inmate, who is from Cherokee County.

According to court records, Sgt. Robert Duane Westley Richardson was charged with forcible oral sodomy and sexual battery. On May 14, a probe was conducted at the Pittsburg County Detention Center when jail administrators were advised of an incident between a male jailer and a female federal inmate, who will not be named.

The inmate told Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Glasco that Richardson came to her cell around 2 a.m., May 8. She said the two were talking before they kissed, and Richardson left.

“[The inmate] then stated she asked [a jail staff member] to ask Sergeant Richardson if he could bring her clothes to her from laundry,” the probable cause affidavit stated.

At around 4:50 a.m., Richardson was seen on video footage entering the inmate’s cell and leaving seven minutes later. The inmate told Glasco she performed a sexual act on Richardson during that time frame.

Another inmate told investigators she saw Richardson leave the inmate’s cell. She said the inmate told her she performed a sexual act on the jailer.

Richardson was interviewed by Glasco and denied the allegations made against him. A jail staff member told investigators that the relationship between Richardson and the alleged victim was “good,” and could tell the two would “flirt” with each other.

Richardson is being held at the Bryan County Jail on a $500,000 bond for the felony charges. He is slated to appear in court May 25.
