Cherokee County woman pleads guilty to felony arson charge
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that a Cherokee County woman pleaded guilty to one count of attempted arson of a dwelling in Indian Country.
According to reports, Sheena Grasshopper, 41, attempted to set fire to a building and place the life of a person in jeopardy on July 31, 2023.
Charges against Grasshopper arose after a probe by the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, the Cherokee Nation Marshal service, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Honorable Jason A. Robertson accepted the plea and Grasshopper will remain in the custody of the United States Marshal Service pending sentencing.
Assistant United States Attorneys Patrick Flanigan and Edith Singer prosecuted the case.
