Chamber accepts resignation of treasurer, director of tourism steps down as well
The Tahlequah Area Chamber of Commerce Board, during a March 26 meeting, accepted the resignation of Treasurer Genny Maiden.
The board entered into a lengthy executive session to discuss the matter and eventually accepted Maiden's resignation from the TACC board and Tourism.
All other items were tabled until the April 23 meeting.
Gena McPhail, director of tourism, resigned March 19 and she said there were "many negative details in the workplace."
"I felt it was in my best interest to resign and focus on my family's health, as well as my own personal peace," she said. "I could not have achieved any of this without my team or staff and Tourism Council. Everyone is replaceable, I just pray that my replacement has the same hunger for success as I have had for Green Country."
McPhail added that bringing increased tourism and exposure to Cherokee County has always been her passion.
"It was always my goal to give an over abundance of special attention to each group or individual that chose our home for their location, and that was proven successful time and time again," she said.
