Carnival patrons not allowed to park at Walmart during festivities

Tahlequah Police Chief Nate King addressed the public ahead of the Cherokee National Holiday, the carnival, and Labor Day Weekend.

The carnival will be in town Thursday, Aug. 29 through Monday, Sept. 2 at the United Keetoowah Band property, beside Walmart.

"With the construction going on in the Walmart parking lot, Walmart will not be allowing any parking in their parking lot. I wanted to put that information out to you because you could end up facing having your vehicle towed if you park there and are a patron at the carnival," King said.

There will be limited parking in front of the UKB property and King said patrons may have to park across the street.

"We've got a lot going on this weekend; the carnival; Cherokee National Holiday is this weekend. There'll be a lot of people in Tahlequah. NSU's home football game, [Their] first game of the year is tonight so be safe this weekend, be compassionate, and be patient," King said.
