BREAKING: overnight house fire leaves one dead

Fire officials confirmed that one person was killed during the early morning hours after a house on Whittmore Drive caught fire.

Tahlequah firefighters were paged out to reports of an explosion at 1:49 a.m., Friday, Sept. 8, when a propane tank exploded. Fire Chief Casey Baker said the fire broke out before the tank exploded.

Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Resident Agent in Charge Ashley Stephens said the fire is under investigation.

The name of the victim has not been released as next of kin hasn't been reached.
