Additional charges filed against Sequoyah County double homicide suspect

The District 27 District Attorney's Office filed additional charges against a man who allegedly shot and killed two people in Sequoyah County in June.


According to a press release by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, Stacy Lee Drake, 50, was named a person of interest in the double murder. On June 18, Sequoyah County deputies were called to a business near State Highway 64 and 4670 Road and discovered the bodies of Tara Underwood and Taylor Sharp.


With the help of the Arkansas State Police and the Morrilton Police Department, Drake was taken into custody June 20 in Arkansas and booked on two counts of first-degree murder and one count of robbery for stealing Underwood's vehicle.


On Aug. 7, Drake was charged with a third count of first-degree murder for the death of Phillip Emerson, who was found dead in Canadian County June 14. He is also facing two additional counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon for stealing a vehicle that belonged to Emerson, and a wallet that belonged to Sharp. Drake is also facing one count of possession of a stolen vehicle and one count of pattern of criminal offenses.


The OSBI thanked the Sequoyah County Sheriff's Office, District 27 District Attorney's Office, District 4 District Attorney's Office El Reno Police Department, Arkansas State Police, and the Morrilton Police Department for their assistance in the investigation.
